How to conduct a Health Coaching Session – step-by-step agenda
Whether you have clients yet or not, you might be wondering what exactly to do during a health coaching session.
I hear many new coaches say, "Even if I did get a client I wouldn't know what to do during a coaching session."
This fear might hold you back from actually launching and getting clients.
Some other common worries and questions are:
What the heck do I do to fill 60 minutes?
Do I follow a set agenda each time?
How do I decide on the topic for a session?
How much time do I spend on each section?
I felt exactly the same way when I started coaching. It was all a big mystery.
Over the years of training and coaching, I've developed a general framework for an ongoing health coaching sessions.
I've found it really helps my confidence to go into a health coaching session with a general outline of the structure of the session. From there you let the client fill in the content.
In this tutorial I walk you step-by-step through an agenda, questions to ask in each section and how much time to spend.
After watching you'll have a structure and process for your coaching sessions that will give you the confidence to get that first client and coach effectively.
Over to you: What part of the session do you struggle with the most? Which one of these tips will you start implementing in your coaching sessions?

Thank you. This was very helpful. I’m still doing my course work and needed to “zoom out” to get a sense of the overall flow.
I’m glad you found it helpful Anna. Yes sometimes it’s helpful to rise above and get a big picture view. All the best with your studies.
Hi Michelle. This was really helpful, thank you for sharing. It has definitely encouraged me to take the next step. I’ve been holding off my first ‘official’ coaching session for so long, because of fear that I would not meet the client’s expectation. Funnily enough though, I often ‘unintentionally’ coach strangers that I could have just met at a social event and they seem to like it.
Good for you, that’s awesome.
