4 reasons why you are stuck in stress and overwhelm

I can absolutely relate to how you might be feeling. I’ve been there many times. Here’s what typically happens to me:

1. As an introvert I withdraw and hide. I don’t want to interact with others, I don’t open up, I go inward and try to figure it all out on my own.

2. Next, to try and figure it all out, I start searching around online for some sort of support. I start off with the free options - usually some sort of generic, self-help approach that doesn't work. I buy books I never read, join online programs I don’t participate in, and then I feel even worse about myself because I failed and made no progress. I bombard myself with information, get overwhelmed and don’t know where to start. It’s a pretty nasty never ending cycle.

3. All of this leaves me with a pretty negative mindset. As someone who can get really stuck in her own head I ruminate, fret, worry that things are only getting worse. I berate myself with negative self talk "You can’t do this, you’re a failure, you’re never going to figure this out, just work harder, push yourself more!"

4. And then of course I don’t pay any attention to my own physical health. Because I’m feeling so bad about everything I don’t eat well, I don't get good sleep, I don’t practice meditation, don’t exercise - I don’t do all of the things I know will help support me to move through the stress and deal with life.
