Are you're frustrated that you haven't been able to get ahold of your stress?
Do you feel like you're at the end of your rope and don’t know where to turn?
Do you beat yourself up because you haven't been able to overcome your overwhelm?
If any of this resonates with you, then you’re in the right place because today I’m going to share 4 reasons why you might be stuck in stress and overwhelm.
I can absolutely relate to how you might be feeling. I’ve been there many times. Here’s what typically happens to me:
1. As an introvert I withdraw and hide. I don’t want to interact with others, I don’t open up, I go inward and try to figure it all out on my own.
2. Next, to try and figure it all out, I start searching around online for some sort of support. I start off with the free options - usually some sort of generic, self-help approach that doesn't work. I buy books I never read, join online programs I don’t participate in, and then I feel even worse about myself because I failed and made no progress. I bombard myself with information, get overwhelmed and don’t know where to start. It’s a pretty nasty never ending cycle.
3. All of this leaves me with a pretty negative mindset. As someone who can get really stuck in her own head I ruminate, fret, worry that things are only getting worse. I berate myself with negative self talk "You can’t do this, you’re a failure, you’re never going to figure this out, just work harder, push yourself more!"
4. And then of course I don’t pay any attention to my own physical health. Because I’m feeling so bad about everything I don’t eat well, I don't get good sleep, I don’t practice meditation, don’t exercise - I don’t do all of the things I know will help support me to move through the stress and deal with life.
