As we move away from the role of expert, authority or teacher, we begin to embrace the coach mindset
The coach approach or "advocate and inspire" model holds that clients are naturally creative, resourceful and whole.
We believe and trust they have the answers inside of them. They are whole beings who aren't broken and don’t need to be fixed.
We fully meet the client where they are today without judgement or bias. It's not our job to dig into their past to figure out why they are the way they are. That's would be more aligned with the role of therapist or counsellor.
As a coach we facilitate a client-centred and client-led process that is based on their goals and not the goals or agenda of the coach. The client gets to decide what they want to work toward and how to do it.
We inspire them to draw on their strengths, be open to new possibilities and find the motivation to work toward their dreams and desires visions for their health and well-being.
We refer out to other health professionals when necessary and support any treatment process the client may be following. By doing this we let go of the teacher, authority and expert roles.
